Waiting periods

  • Natural death: covered after six consecutive monthly premiums (six-month waiting period).
  • Accidental death: covered immediately from the benefit start date.
  • Suicide: excluded for the first 12 months.

Benefit limits

  • Children under 6: maximum R20 000 per life.
  • Ages 6–13: maximum R50 000 per life.
  • Adults under 65: maximum R100 000 per life.
  • Ages 75+: maximum R40 000 per life.
  • Cover above these caps falls away; no surrender value applies.

General exclusions

Assupol may decline a claim if death results from war, civil unrest, terrorism, criminal acts, or fraudulent activity. Claims are also declined where mandatory disclosures are incomplete or misrepresented.

DebiCheck & premiums

DebiCheck mandates are issued after the advisor accepts the application; customers must authorise the mandate via their bank to activate cover. Two consecutive missed premiums may lapse the policy; reinstatement follows Assupol’s underwriting rules.

Claims documentation

  • Certified copy of the death certificate and BI-1663 medical cause of death form.
  • Valid ID or passport and proof of relationship for each life assured.
  • Policyholder or beneficiary banking proof.

Data & privacy

Personal information is processed to generate quotes, hand off to Assupol’s appointed call centre, and comply with POPIA. Data is hosted in Supabase (EU) and Vercel infrastructure with encryption in transit and access controls. Quote data is retained for up to 12 months unless lawful requirements dictate longer retention, after which data is deleted or de-identified.
